China and the United States on Tuesday held the first-ever vice-ministerial level talks on anti-terrorism cooperation in Washington.

At the talks, Chinese and US officials exchanged views on the current anti-terror situation and reached broad consensus on deepening cooperation between the two countries in the regard.

Emphasizing the terrorist nature of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, Chinese officials urged the United States to abandon "double standards" in addressing terrorism, and understand and support China's effort to strike the "East Turkestan" terrorists.

China and the United States jointly condemned and opposed terrorism of all forms at the dialogue co-chaired by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping and Tina Kaidanow, Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the State Department. U.S. Undersecretary Sarah Sewall delivered a speech at the opening session of the dialogue.

Tuesday's dialogue is one of the follow-up events to the sixth round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue held last week in Beijing.
