Chinese President Xi Jinping has encouraged volunteers of the upcoming Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games to fully display their youthfulness and passion.
In correspondence with volunteers, Xi said he was pleased that they had prepared themselves to greet friends from all over the world with sincere smiles and thoughtful service, according to a news release on Wednesday.
Xi expressed hope that volunteers will work with enthusiasm, dedication, and provide a quality service.
No matter what jobs volunteers are assigned to do, in the spotlight or behind the stage, they will display their youthful vigor, Xi said.
Furthermore, Xi encouraged them to spread Chinese culture, tell Chinese stories, and to cast a good image of Chinese young people with youthful passion, as if they are "name cards" of the country.
The Youth Olympic Games is not only a sporting event, but also an opportunity for exchanges of feelings and ideas between Chinese young people and their foreign peers, Xi said.
He called on young volunteers to bring closer the Chinese dream and the dreams of people from all over the world, and make contributions to human beings' pursuit of peace and development.
The Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held from August 16 to 28 in Nanjing, China, has enlisted nearly 20,000 volunteers.
The representative of the volunteers wrote to Xi, expressing their determination to display the vigor of Chinese young people and to tell Chinese stories.
