A young man who conned middle school students out of cash with promises of part-time summer work earned himself 10 days in detention in Foshan, Guangdong province after he flaunted the ill-gotten money online.
Local police tracked down the suspect surnamed Zhong, a junior high school senior, after he posted a photo on his WeChat account holding a fistful of yuan on July 11.
"My butt is swollen from riding my bike all day, but I'm satisfied with the results," commented Zhong in the post.
Zhong later told police he had grifted a total 500 yuan ($80.5) from 10 students.
A Web user named "Shoushou" claimed Zhong had taken 50 yuan from his cousin and three of her schoolmates outside their school on July 4, offering leads to part-time jobs. "Shoushou" reposted the photo, which lead police to Zhong's capture.
