Typhoon Rammasun is expected to make landfall in South China's Hainan and Guangdong provinces early Friday morning. It will bring downpours to China's southern coast. The Ministry of Civil Affairs and national disaster relief committee have initiated a quick response program to supervise preparations for the typhoon.
There'll be close monitoring in the south, in Guangxi region, and the provinces of Guangdong and Hainan. As well as in the southwest provinces of Guizhou and Yunnan.
Precautionary measures include evacuating residents along the coast and returning ships to harbors. Travel across Qiongzhou Strait, which links Hainan Island and Guangdong province, have been suspended since Thursday morning. And fishing boats and transport vessels in the South China Sea returned to the harbor at Yongxing Island on Tuesday. The typhoon is presently moving towards China at the speed of 20 to 25 kilometers per hour.
