The popular live show Attraction will stage its third season at the National Stadium (also known as the Bird's Nest) between September 13 and 30, promoters have announced. Premiered in 2012 and directed by famous director Lu Chuan, Attraction has presented more than 40 performances and attracted 400,000 audiences in total during the past two years.
On a par with the O-show in Las Vegas by Cirque du Soleil, Attraction was especially designed for the Bird's Nest. Featuring a large water stage which can appear or disappear within a minute, high-altitude wires with a total length of 13,000 meters, and 3,600 square meters of LED, it offers a 4D effect for the enjoyment of audiences.
On July 7, the show was honored in the category of Chinese Stage Creative Works by the China Association of Stage Art and China Entertainment Technology Association. In April, Attraction was given gold at the 2013 International Best Film by the International Visual Communication Association in Britain.
For the latest season, a group of leading visual-effects designers and producers will join the team. Han Lixun, chief artistic designer for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, hopes to make this version of Attraction better suited for the architectural characteristics of the Bird's Nest. And Pixomondo, which is behind a host of Oscar-winning films for visual effects such as Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Fast & Furious 5 and The Hunger Games, will be responsible for the final visual effects of the new Attraction.
