Hot on the heels of Typhoon Rammasun, another typhoon is expected to strengthen and threaten Taiwan. The center of Typhoon Matmo is currently about 1,200 kilometers southeast of Taipei, with level 12 gales, and it is moving northwest at 20 to 25 kilometers per hour.
The typhoon is expected to hit east Taiwan around Tuesday night. Heavy rain is expected, with a possible threat of flooding. Matmo is also expected to make landfall in eastern China somewhere south of Shanghai, most likely in Fujian or Zhejiang provinces on Thursday.
