Beijing is the capital of China, the center for politics, culture, international exchanges and technological innovation. As a world-famous historical and cultural city, Beijing boasts a history of over 3,000 years as an established city and 860 years as the capital of China. The modern Beijing has developed into a metropolis with rich cultural heritage, sound industrial structure, cutting-edge technology, and friendly relations with cities from economies and regions across the world. Beijing was the host of the 29th Summer Olympics in 2008. Currently, it is working hard to implement the strategy of "People's Beijing, Hi-tech Beijing and Green Beijing", and to build up itself into a world-class harmonious and livable city.
