Beijing will try to enter the record books when it hosts Oktoberfest next month by attempting to have the "world's largest beer tent," the Beijing Youth Daily reported. The event, which will run from August 15 to 30, will only have the one giant tent instead of 14 as it had last year.
The tent will cover 11,000 square meters and feature a traditional "grand entrance." Some of the oldest and most famous German beers will be served throughout the festival.
The cost of admission has been lowered to 10 yuan ($1.60) for this year's event to encourage greater participation. Rock singer Zheng Jun, former The Voice of China contestant Jike Junyi and veteran rock band Black Panther will perform at the festival.
