A red alert on flight delays on Tuesday across East and Central China was issued by China's Air Traffic Information Platform on Monday.
Shanghai is expected to see a 75 percent decrease in its ability to handle traffic at its two airports with air traffic busy between 2 pm and 6 pm Tuesday afternoon. Air routes to Shanghai and Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan Province, will also see a 75 percent decrease, read the alert.
It added that airports in more than nine cities in provinces of Shandong and Jiangsu will no longer accept landing flights between 2 to 6 pm, while airplanes flying northward from airports in over another nine cities in provinces including Jiangxi and Zhejiang will not be able to take off within the time interval.
