An urban management officer was attacked and killed on Friday when cordoning off a government-contracted patch of land from farmers in Longtan District of northeast China's Jilin Province, local authorities said.
Another eight officers and two villagers were injured during the fracas in Bajiazi Village of Jiangbei Township. The dead officer was the chief of Longtan district urban management law enforcement team.
Witnesses said there was a fight between the officers and villagers regarding farmland occupation.
Police detained 10 suspects for questioning.
Investigation into the case is under way.
