A wild monkey entered a farmer's house in Dehua county, Fujian province, ate his food and then escaped to the roof where it damaged tiles, Fujian Daily reported on Tuesday.
The monkey entered the farmer's house at about 12:15 pm when the farmer, named Liang Xiaofu, was napping.
"I could not believe it when I heard my grandson shout that there was a monkey in our house as I have never encountered such a thing in my 70 years of living," Liang said.
However, when he woke, he saw the monkey eating cake in his dining room.
The monkey ran from Liang and other family members and escaped onto the house roof, where it damaged some 1,000 tiles.
Local forestry staff said the improved environment in the county has helped enlarge the population of wild animals, which may stray into villages for food.
