Quake area donations top 237 mln yuan: Ministry

Yunnan Province had received more than 237.5 million yuan ($38.5 million) of donations as of Wednesday afternoon the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) said Wednesday.

Of the donations, 144.6 million yuan is in funds along with 92.9 million yuan in materials, said the Ministry.

A total of 10,000 emergency lights for tents will arrive in the quake-hit area on Thursday in addition to 55,000 blankets, 22,800 sets of clothes, 2,500 T-shirts, 24,000 flashlights and 2,000 raincoats.

The quake hit Ludian County in southwestern China's Yunnan on Sunday afternoon, killing at least 589 people.

The ministry said 6,845 tents and 1,350 sheds had been set up in 123 sites as of Wednesday afternoon, with almost 160,000 victims being relocated.
