The Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport recently updated their city parking map which shows Beijing has gained 70,000 new parking spots since April, the Beijing Morning Post reported.
Most of the parking spaces are concentrated in three districts: Chaoyang, Fengtai and Shijingshan, with Chaoyang gaining more than 20,000 new parking spots.
However, older neighborhoods and high-density residential areas still lack proper parking spots. As some families possess more than one car, one parking space per household is no longer sufficient to facilitate the rise in cars.
The government plans to build more than 8,000 parking spaces in residential areas of the city by the end of this year.
