The first makeshift hospital for the disaster-hit area of Ludian, with the aid of the Chengdu Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), was completed and put into operation on August 11, 2014.
The Central Health Center of Longtoushan town used to provide basic medical services for all the 54,000 residents in the town before the earthquake. Its facilities occupying about 3,500-odd square meters were damaged during the earthquake and lost all functions.
For local people's convenience of receiving medical treatment, the troop immediately coordinated with the local government after receiving the construction mission, and selected a wide farm field at Huluqiao community, Longquan village, Longtoushan town, to build the makeshift hospital.
The makeshift hospital has a gross building area of over 1,000 square meters with 42 medical workers, and can hospitalize 50 people and receive 150 people, according to sources.
