Youth Olympics host city Nanjing guards against Ebola

As the Youth Olympic Games draw near, the host city of Nanjing has tightened its preventive measures against the spread of the Ebola virus.

The city has designated two of its best hospitals for the Youth Olympics. It has also set up 67 medical rooms and 78 medical centers around the venues. 92 ambulances have been dispatched for the event. And the local health department has tightened their inspections on various infectious diseases.

Meanwhile, Jiangsu province has tightened entry-exit inspection and quarantine at ports and airports. People entering the province are required to take temperature detection twice. Those returning from overseas are told to get physical exams at the local disease control department.

"We require medical institutions at various levels to promptly report patients with symptoms related to infectious diseases such as fever, jaundice and diarrhea." said Xu Minsheng, Deputy Director, Nanjing Health Bureau.

"We have tightened our medical inspections of passengers boarding planes. If necessary, we will also conduct medical quarantine and temperature detections during the flight." said an employee, Nanjing Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bur.
