NE China coal mine flood traps 9

Nine people have been trapped after a coal mine was flooded in Jixi City, in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, said local authorities on Thursday.

The flooding occurred at 1:10 p.m. Thursday in a shaft of the Anzhishun Coal Mine at the Chengzihe district of Jixi, said the city government.

Local government authorities have sent rescuers to the site.

Investigations into the accident are underway.
