A Beijing court Monday sentenced Tong Mingqian, former senior political advisor from central China's Hunan province, to five years in prison for neglect of duty.
Tong was convicted of failing to stop a large scale election fraud of provincial lawmakers and launch an investigation into it while he served as party chief of Hengyang city in Hunan province, said a court statement.
