A ceremony was held on Wednesday to honor students awarded the China Youth Scientific Innovation Prize for 2014.
The award scheme was set up in 2004 according to the last wish of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, with royalties earned from his books providing the rewards for winners.
The upcoming 110th anniversary of the birth of Deng falls on Friday.
Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended the ceremony and called on Chinese youth to devote themselves to scientific innovation and contribute to the nation's future.
A total of 900 undergraduates, secondary and primary students have been awarded since the prize's establishment.
