Eyeing the huge market potential of live shows and musicals in China, Broadway Asia International and two domestic companies have recently cofounded the joint-venture China Broadway Entertainment Holding Limited to specially introduce live shows and musicals from overseas to Chinese audiences as well as produce tailor-made productions for the Chinese market.
According to the company's plans, three large projects will be introduced to China over the coming years: the live show on ice Ice Age Live!, adapted from the 2002 animation blockbuster Ice Age, the musical An American in Paris and theme theaters in Shanghai and Beijing.
Integrating multiple performances such as rock music, figure skating and life-sized figures based on the characters from the film, Ice Age Live! just concluded a tour in Britain. The show is expected to premiere in China sometime between August and October of next year
Meanwhile, An American in Paris, the first overseas musical that China Broadway has invested in, will also be coming to China in 2015 after it premieres in France in December of this year.
