The UNESCO Creative Cities Network 2014 Chengdu Conference will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan province Sept 26 to 29.
Fifty-eight cities from 26 countries have confirmed the event. World-renowned experts and scholars, UNESCO officials and representatives from UNESCO creative cities will gather to share insights and ideas on the future development of the creative cities.
During the conference, the 11th International Chinese Food & Tourism Festival, and the 2014 International Summit Forum of Gastronomy Cities will also be held to provide a platform for cities worldwide to boost communication and cooperation.
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network is divided into seven categories, including literature, film, music, crafts and folk art, design, media arts, and gastronomy, connecting cities who want to share experiences, ideas and best practices for cultural, social and economic development. A total of 41 cities in 7 counties have joined the network.
Chengdu was officially designated as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy in February 2010.
