Guangdong checking Heinz cereal

The Guangdong Food and Drug Administration announced on Thursday that it has started investigating high-protein cereal produced by ketchup maker H.J. Heinz Co for possible quality problems.

The administration has ordered a halt in sales of the products, it said. The company's China branch that produces the cereal is located in South China's Guangdong Province.

Heinz announced on Monday the recall of some of its high-protein cereal, after food safety regulators in East China's Zhejiang Province found "excessive amounts of lead" in the product.
