The 2014 Beijing Fringe Festival, which will gather 50 different shows from 12 countries, will be shown in 10 theaters and art spaces in Beijing from September 2-28.
Lectures, forums and workshops about theater plays are also scheduled to be held.
Art director Meng Jinghui has categorized the 50 shows into seven categories based on type, the creative team and their performing style; for example foreign dramas, new dramas and classic dramas, each falls into a different group.
Meng stated that he and his team will continue to spread the concept of the Beijing Fringe Festival by continuing to incorporate a contemporary and artistic spirit into this growing international theater platform.
He added that he is confident that the 2014 Beijing Fringe Festival will be able to provide a magnificent feast for audiences with its diversity and inclusiveness.
Since the first festival in 2008, the Beijing Fringe Festival has matured into one of China's biggest and most influential international theater events.
This year's festival has been organized by the China Theater Association, the Beijing Committee of the Communist Youth League and the National Theatre of China.
