The Chinese Embassy in Turkey is doing its best to collect information on three Chinese workers who went missing in southeastern Turkey, but it couldn't confirm for now the reports that they were kidnapped, the embassy told the Global Times Tuesday.
Three Chinese workers disappeared and a thermal power plant in Silopi District of southeastern Turkey, which is being constructed by the China Machinery Engineering Corporation, was attacked by militants Sunday, the Xinhua New Agency reported.
A report from the private Dogan news agency said the Chinese engineers were kidnapped by outlawed Kurdish Worker's Party (PKK) militants.
But a staff member in the Chinese Embassy said reports that the three engineers were kidnapped are not confirmed and there will be a public announcement if the embassy receives any more information.
