China's Peng Shuai and Hsieh Su-Wei from Chinese Taipei have moved into the third round after a straight sets win in the women's doubles of US Open yesterday. But this Grand Slam will be their last competition as partners if they don't qualify for this year's WTA finals in Singapore, more on that in a few moments.

Peng and Hsieh took on Darija Jurak of Croatia and Megan Moulton-Levy from the US. They have met each other in this year's Wimbledon and the French Open champions took the opening set 6-4 by advantage of their rich experience.

The Cross-Strait duo continued to dominate in the second set and forced Jurak and Moulton-Levy to make some big errors.

Moulton-Levy called medical time-out for her back injury during the set.

Peng and Hsieh then went on to seal the second set 6-2. The second seeds will meet Kimiko Date-Krumm of Japan and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova from Czech Republic next.

While they've enjoyed a solid run so far at the US Open, it appears that Flushing Meadows will be the last stop on what has been a very successful ride for Peng Shuai and Hsieh Su-Wei, as the Cross-Strait partners will go their separate ways after this tournament comes to an end, unless they reach next month's WTA Finals.

And this split comes despite the fact that they've won two Grand Slam titles together, and could very well claim another in New York, if they make it to the championship match.

"There are dozens of Grand Slam winning duos who have split up and regrouped in the past. I think it's pretty normal that I would start considering a split, after pairing with Hsieh Su-Wei for two years now. I just hope that we both have great new opportunities in the future, and also can achieve a good result in our last Grand Slam together," Peng said.
