Over 3,000 funeral items belonging to Emperor Zhu Yijun (1563-1620) of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) will be relocated to a newly built underground storeroom in the Ming Tombs in Changping district, reported the Beijing News.
Lei Tao, an official with the Ming Tombs, said that the new storeroom cost around 30 million yuan ($4.9 million), and occupies 2,435 square meters, which is three times larger than the previous storeroom in which the relics were held.
To better preserve the relics, they will be placed into individual boxes made according to their weight and shape.
These boxes can guarantee that the cultural relics will not be damaged if they fall from a height of 30 meters.
