The 2nd Chinese Desert Sports Games opened in Zhongwei, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Tuesday.
The three-day games that attracted over 700 athletes features six team and four individual events, including sand soccer, as well as some showcase events including sand surfing.
Zhongwei, located at the south edge of Tengger Desert, the fourth largest desert in China, also hosted the inaugural games in 2007.
