Taiwan authorities donated 1 million US dollars to the quake-struck Ludian in Yunnan Province to support its reconstruction, the island's Mainland Affairs Council said Thursday.
The donation will be handed to the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits through the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation, the island's mainland affairs authorities said, extending best wishes to the victims.
Taiwan's Pou Chen Group, a shoe manufacturer which has factories in southern China's Guangdong Province, on Thursday also donated 2 million yuan (about 326,000 US dollars) through a local charity organization, to help people in Ludian rebuild their homes.
A 6.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Ludian on Aug. 3, killing more than 600 people and destroying 80,000 homes.
