American blockbuster "The Expendables 3," was the biggest winner at China's box office for the week ending Sept. 7, earning 219 million yuan (about $35.7 million).
The action movie, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, was closely followed by "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," another hollywood blockbuster, which pulled in 182 million yuan, according to China Film News on Wednesday.
"But Always," a domestic romance which debuted on Friday, grossed 51 million in the week.
American blockbuster sequel "How to Train Your Dragon 2" took in 5.1 million in the seven day run.
Rounding out the top five list was "The Four 3," a domestic martial arts action sequel by Hong Kong director Gordon Chan, with 4.8 million yuan.
