A new round of floods left at least two people dead and seven others missing in southwest China's Sichuan Province, local authorities said late Saturday.
Torrential rains started to hit 11 cities from Friday night on and are continuing in many regions, the provincial flood control office said.
The precipitation in some parts exceeded 100 mm during the 24 hours to 8 p.m. Saturday, the office said.
The floods killed two in the city of Guang'an. Meanwhile, one in the city of Bazhong and six others in the city of Dazhou were either buried in landslides or washed away by the floods, the office said.
The search and rescue operations are under way.
