The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines has warned its nationals to keep aware of the current security situation in the country and to take precautions to protect their personal safety and property.
The warning came after a Chinese national was shot in the northern Bulacan province on Saturday. The victim is now in critical condition. The embassy has sent representatives to the hospital to offer assistance. It also urged the police in the Philippines to arrest the suspect and take concrete actions to ensure the safety of all Chinese nationals in the country.
Sunday's shooting is the second violent act towards a Chinese national in a week. Earlier on Thursday, a Chinese teenager was abducted by a group of unidentified gunmen in the southern Philippines.
