Six sections of the Great Wall in Yanqing county, including the Jiuyanlou and Shixiaguan sections, are undergoing minor reconstruction. Lots of cultural relics are found during the reconstruction, reported the Beijing Daily.
The Jiuyanlou section was originally built in 1543 during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Parts of the sidewall along the section have completely collapsed due to the past warfare and natural disasters. Several cultural relics have been found during the repairs, such as a watchtower covered by grass in the section of Badaling township.
This is the first time that the sections of the Great Wall in Yanqing county receive repairs, and it is hoped to increase the expertise for the future protection of the Wall.
