Two people were killed in a gun fight late Tuesday night, when police were trying to capture a suspected drug dealer in south China's Guangzhou city, police said on Wednesday.
At 6:17 pm Tuesday, police raided a reported drug-producing den in Haizhu District and were resisted by the suspect with a gun. The suspect also set the apartment on fire during his confrontation with police.
The fire was put out around midnight and police entered.
The suspect was shot dead at the scene after six hours of confrontation. A police officer and a bystander were injured during the fight and were rushed to hospital.
The police officer is now out of danger after emergency treatment whereas the bystander died later in the hospital, according to the municipal public security bureau.
Further investigation is under way.
