Uygur teacher's separatism trial closes

The two-day trial of a Uygur teacher on a charge of fermenting separatism closed in Urumqi on Thursday.

The People's Procuratorate of Urumqi instituted public prosecution against Ilham Tohti, from Beijing's Minzu University of China.

The Urumqi Intermediate People's Court held a public trial. Two lawyers defended the defendant.

The court will announce a ruling later.
