Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng stressed national reunification as the Chinese mainland's "unwavering goal" as he met with a visiting Taiwanese delegation of pro-reunification groups on Friday.
Giving high praise to these groups for their contributions to the development of cross-Strait relations and the progress toward the peaceful reunification, Yu stressed that realizing the reunification of the country is "our unwavering goal."
"National reunification concerns a country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and is closely related to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation... Our stance on the issue is clear, determined and won't back down a bit," Yu said.
Yu urged to stick to the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, continuously boost cross-Strait political mutual trust and resolutely curb attempt for "Taiwan independence", so that both sides can achieve common development in the process of peaceful development, compatriots on both sides become closer and the foundation for peaceful reunification becomes more solid.
