Chinese tourist attractions received about 25.7 million visitors from Wednesday to Sunday, the first five days of the seven-day National Day Holiday, while self-driving travel is favored by an increasing number of Chinese, official data showed.
The figure edged up about 1.6 percent from the same period last year, according to the China National Tourism Administration. The data were collected from 124 tourist sites across the country.
Nearly 5.1 million people visited these tourist attractions on Sunday alone, representing an increase of 3.2 percent from the previous year, and more visitors are choosing short trips and self-driving journeys, said the administration.
