A man in Zhejiang province filed a lawsuit against his daughter for failing to do housework and look after his granddaughter, Qianjiang Evening News reported on Thursday.
The man, surnamed Hu, accused his daughter at a court in Ningbo in September of failing to do any housework after marrying but spending most of her time buying clothes or watching Korean soap operas. Therefore he and his wife had to take care of their granddaughter and provide food for his daughter and son-in-law, who also neglects the housework.
Hu also showed the court a certificate proving he lent 700,000 yuan ($114,000) to his daughter when she and her husband bought a house in Ningbo in 2010.
He said he hoped to teach his daughter to learn to appreciate her parents in this way and that he did not really want to have the money returned.
Hu withdrew the case on Wednesday after his daughter apologized.
