Chinese and Vietnamese officials met in Nanning, capital of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, for the third session of the working group for consultation on joint maritime development from Thursday to Friday.

The Chinese delegation was headed by Yi Xianliang, deputy director-general of the department of boundary and ocean affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while Tran Duy Hai, deputy head of the national border committee of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs led the Vietnamese group.

The consultations involved representatives from both sides' departments of foreign affairs, defense, economic planning, agriculture, oceans, energy and geology.

They exchanged views on joint maritime development and agreed to implement the consensus reached by Premier Li Keqiang and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung last October on maritime exploration and development.
