The People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Saturday convened a meeting for the end of the "mass line" campaign, calling for more efforts to build an army with integrity.
Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee urged all servicemen to learn from President Xi Jinping's remarks on the "mass line" campaign.
Xi said earlier this week that the end of the "mass line" campaign was just the start for the construction of the Party, calling for implementing the "mass line" guideline in the future.
"Mass line" refers to a guideline under which CPC officials and members are required to prioritize the interests of the people and exercise power on their behalf. Based on arrangements made at the 18th National Congress of the CPC in November 2012, the campaign began in June 2013 with the aim of cultivating closer ties with the people.
Fan urged the whole army to build integrity to achieve the dream of a strong army, implement the Party's policies on thrift, strictly punish corruption, and build the army under the rule of law.
Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of the CMC and a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said at the meeting that as problems still exist in the army's style of work, the "mass-line" should continue.
The meeting was convened with approval from Xi Jinping, chairman of the CMC.
