Beijing Municipal government has released more than hundreds of proposals to tackle traffic congestion in the capital city. According to Beijing Municipal committee of Transportation, measures including build more suburb subways, to set traffic congestion alert in the subway, raise safety standards of subway and to have more bus-only traffic lanes.
"We hoped that more residents can choose public transportation as their way of travel in the future," Beijing Municipal Committee Of Transportation director Zhou Zhengyu said.
"We also planned on adjusting fourteen bus lanes and open more express buses," Wang Hao from Beijing Traffic Management Bureau said. "So it links to the other buses as a whole, and it will lay good foundation for network of Beijing's public transportation."
The government is planing to build thousand-kilometer suburb subway lines as part of its efforts to ease traffic flows. By the end of this year, Beijing will open another four subway lines. Passengers will be able to check the traffic flows on-line at the same time. The congestion alerts will be issued through internet to the public everyday, so passengers can avoid traffic congestion area. Meanwhile, the government is also considering to expand more express ways to support the flow.
