China publishes full text of legal reform plan

The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Tuesday published the full text of the decision on comprehensively advancing the rule of law.

The decision was adopted at the fourth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee on Thursday.

The full text of an explanation to the decision, delivered by President Xi Jinping at the session, was also published.

Xi says China adheres to socialist path in rule of law

President Xi Jinping said China will unswervingly follow the path of the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics on Tuesday.

Xi said the path, which embodies the achievements and experience in building socialist rule of law, is the only right course. >>>

Xi pledges reform to ensure independent, fair judicial system

Xi denounced judges and prosecutors who manipulate cases in exchange of money and favors. "Some even go two ways by draining both the defendant and the plaintiff," he said. >>>

Chinese President Xi Jinping said the relations between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the rule of law is "the core issue for the building of a country with the rule of law."

"Party's leadership is the most essential feature of the socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the most fundamental guarantee of socialist rule of law," Xi said, according to his interpretation. >>>

China mulls changes to public interest litigation

China is considering allowing prosecutors to institute public interest litigation, according to a legal reform plan published in full text Tuesday.

If put into practice, the plan will optimize judicial functions, improve administrative lawsuits, and advance administration by law, said President Xi Jinping in an explanation to the plan, also released on Tuesday. >>>

CPC to strengthen leadership in law making

The Communist Party of China (CPC) has called to better China's legislation system while strengthening the Party's leadership in lawmaking.

Any acts of legislation must be submitted to the CPC Central Committee for discussion and decision-making if they involve important institutional or policy adjustment, according to a key Party decision released Tuesday on advancing the rule of law. >>>
