Chinese top political adviser Yu Zhengsheng said the legislative bodies of China and Algeria will promote their exchanges and work together to boost the China- Algeria bilateral cooperation.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, arrived at Algiers on Saturday afternoon to launch an official friendly visit to Algeria.
Abdelkader Bensalah, chairman of the Council of Nation of Algeria, greeted Yu at the airport and held talks with Yu later in the day.
According to an official with the Chinese delegation, Yu and Bensalah exchanged their views on bilaterial issues and agreed to further promote cooperation.
Yu is set to meet with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and the president of the country' s Lower House on Sunday, the official said.
In a brief interview with local media upon his arrival, Yu said he came to the North African country to further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries and seek more cooperation. Algeria is the first leg of Yu's four-nation tours in North Africa and the Gulf region, which will also take him to Morocco, Bahrain and Jordan.
