An airplane of Hong Kong's airline company Cathay Pacific turned back about one hour after it took off from the Hong Kong International Airport due to an engine fault on Sunday, local media reported.
The plane was scheduled to take off on 16:20 and arrive at Tokyo at 21:05 local time.
According to Hong Kong's Airport Authority, the Hong Kong airport control tower received the message at about 17:30 that Flight CX542 would make a return, and fire-fighting and emergency ambulance services immediately showed up.
At about 17:45, the aircraft landed safely and nobody got hurt.
According to the official website of Cathay Pacific, the plane is a Boeing 747-400.
