Beijing showed dominance in front of an injury-depleted Shandong with a 95-71 home victory, and Liaoning kept the league-best 7-0 record after routing Tianjin 117-88 in Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Sunday.
Beijing's Randolph Morris finished with 25 points and 10 boards. Zhu Yanxi helped with 18 points. Stephon Marbury had seven points and dished out six assists.
Shandong lost some key players both in their post and backcourt, including Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica and Sui Ran. Their talented 19-year-old Liu Guancen also suffered a serious injury in his arm after finishing a slam dunk last round.
The hosts heated up quicker after the tip-off, as Marbury and Wang Xiaohui hit three 3-pointers for a 15-4 lead, forcing their opponents into a time-out. Then Li Jingyu had eight points in a row to cut the deficit within five points for Shandong, while being responded by Beijing with a 10-0 run after Morris was substituted.
Beijing used another 10-2 run to build a comfortable 51-26 lead into the halftime. Shandong's Pooh Jeter, who averaged 29.7 points in previous six rounds, was restricted to just four points in the first half.
Beijing led by 74-37 with two minutes remaining in the third period, their largest lead throughout the game, and finally got an easy win.
Tao Hanlin led Shandong players with 16 points. Li Jingyu and Diao Chenghao had 10 apiece. Dingyan Yuhang and Jeter scored just eight and seven points respectively.
"Jeter and Dingyan Yuhang are their main scorers, so we made a good preparation for defending these duo," said Zhu Yanxi.
Liaoning's foreign duo Lester Hudson and Marshall Thompson shared game-high 25 points. Chinese national point guard Guo Ailun had 19.
Thompson substituted for Hudson with 3:30 to go in the first quarter, and made several shots in the paint field. Liaoning built a 29-18 lead after this period, before using a 14-2 run to extend the margin to 23 points early in the second period, when they began to keep the advantage to the end of this game.
Thanks to six players' double-digit points, Shanghai tasted their first season win after edging Jilin 124-117 through overtime.
Shanghai player Meng Lingyuan had team-high 27 points. Former NBA second draft pick Micheal Beasley had 23 points and 11 rebounds.
