Top legislator commemorates late defense minister

A symposium was held on Monday in Beijing to commemorate the centenary of late Chinese Defense Minister Qin Jiwei.

Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, attended the symposium and met Qin's family.

Qin passed away at the age of 82 in 1977. He also held posts as vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, state councillor and member of the Central Military Commission.
