Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived at Tasmania in Southeastern Australia continuing his state visit to the country after attending the Group of Twenty Summit in Brisbane. [Special coverage]
On Monday, Xi addressed the Australian parliament, saying China will never use force to achieve its goals, including maritime disputes, citing that history showed that countries attempting to pursue development with force invariably failed.
China has signed a multi-billion dollar free trade deal with Australia which will allow 85 percent of all Australian exports entering China to be tariff-free. Australia is the first stop of Xi's ongoing tour, which will also take him to New Zealand and Fiji.
