Art centuries old is finding a new way to reach younger audiences with the help of technology. From Milan and Moscow, to Istanbul and Budapest, the globally-acclaimed exhibition "Van Gogh Alive" will come to Shanghai in April 2015 at the city's famous Xintiandi district.

Paintings by renowned Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh will be presented with the latest technology, creating an unforgettable experience for visitors.

"Van Gogh Alive" is redefining what it means to visit a museum. With the help of the Sensory 4 multimedia system, the interactive exhibition will immerse visitors into the world of the Dutch post impressionist master.

It displays more than 3,000 paintings, including Van Gogh's most famous works, on walls, ceilings and even the floor. It provides a unique opportunity for visitors to see the tiniest details. The system even produces sounds synchronized with the image.

"Visitors can literally walk through images of Van Gogh's famous works such as 'The Starry Night' and 'Sunflowers.' So be ready to be astonished and drawn into this unique experience," curator Zhou Yi said.

Part of what makes Van Gogh's art so famous today is the tumultuous life he lived, pieces of which will be showcased for visitors. While exploring the exhibition, visitors will get to learn about the creative origins of the paintings and view excerpts from the artist's letters that offer insight into his life.

The interactive exhibition was created in 2007 by the Australian company Grande Exhibitions. It has been exhibited in Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East to more than 1.5 million visitors.

The exhibition in Shanghai opens on April 28, 2015 and runs until August 30.
