China to inspect implementation of major reform policies

The central authorities will dispatch eight inspection teams to 16 provincial regions to investigate whether major reform policies are being properly implemented, according a statement after a meeting on inspection work on Thursday.

According to the statement, in accordance with the instructions of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the General Office of CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council will jointly carry out the inspection to promote the implementation of major policies and measures.

Inspectors will be tasked with finding out whether local governments have effectively carried out reform policies put forward at the third plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, the annual Central Economic Work Conference in 2013 as well as key points raised in the government work report, said the statement.

It said 35 major policies in eight categories need to be checked, such as whether the reform measures have been fruitful, whether the economy is in steady condition, whether structural adjustment has been made and whether the masses have benefited.

The statement said inspectors will visit local governments and have face-to-face talks with local entrepreneurs and residents to understand the overall situation.
