The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Environmental Protection announced they will tighten inspections on exhaust emissions from coal-fired boilers as the city enters into its heating season, the Beijing Daily reported.
Those guilty of illegal activity, which includes the production of excess emissions, burning in an open area and the use of unqualified coal products, will face hefty fines and possible shutdown.
Daxing, Changping, Fangshan and Tongzhou districts will be specifically targeted in the inspections.
