First Lady Peng visits HIV/AIDS patients on World AIDS Day

China's First Lady Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping joined children suffering from HIV/AIDS in a video calling for an end to discrimination against those suffering from the disease in north China's Shanxi Province before World AIDS Day.

The music video, released on World AIDS Day on December 1, included a song sung by the first lady in support of the HIV/AIDS patients.

First lady Peng Liyuan, in collaboration with the students from the Red Ribbon School in Linfen in the Shanxi province, made an awareness video in which these same students with HIV/AIDS asked the public not to discriminate against people living with the illness.

In the video, the children can be heard in the background singing with the China's First Lady. Meanwhile, footage is seen of the first lady joining the children as they engage in everyday school activities, such as art projects and playing outdoors.

"Oh, for a view of the sunrise, and for a breath of the sea...dear friends, I'm afraid of what's to become of me," the children sing.

"Shiny, bright dreams...beautiful hopes. Facing up bravery to Fate's decree, together gazing at the sunrise, together breathing in the sea. Dear friends, we are together for you and for me," sings the first lady.

When asked how long she would keep advocating on behalf of those living with HIV/AIDS, the first lady said, "I will keep doing it for as long as I can keep making a difference."

First Lady Peng Liyuan is an Ambassador for HIV/AIDS Prevention for China's Ministry of Health and a Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS and TB for the World Health Organization.
