A fire broke out Thursday afternoon at a theater under construction in Xinjiang. No casualties were reported.
Fire started at the theater in the Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Changji in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region when a construction worker was burning bitumen which ignited timber nearby.
The fire was put out in 10 minutes. No casualties were reported and the economic loss was estimated as slight.
Construction of the theater started in April 2013 and it is scheduled to open to the public next May. The structure is 256 meters long and 146 meters wide with an apron stage of 27 meters. It is designed with a capacity of 2,000 people.
